Bad Posture from sitting is doing your back in!
We are all aware that our bodies were never designed to sit for long periods of time, but these days – more and more we find ourselves sitting for long and longer periods in bad posture.
statistically a study performed in Australia found that on average from the time we rise in the morning and head to work, work all day, return at night and head to bed, the average human spends 7.3 hours a day sitting. This (especially in singapore!) is even more time spent than most people get sleeping at night! Sitting for six to eight hours a day can lead to shoulder, arm, wrist, hand and neck problems. Another recent study found that over 45% of all office workers required to sit in front of a computer for more than four hours per day experience neck pain.
Low back pain is another common cause of disability within the working population, behind headaches and colds, back pain is the third most common reason for taking time off from work.
One of the easiest ways to mitigate posture related spinal issues is to take regular breaks. At ActiveLife Chiropractic – we recommend to our patients to take a 1-2 minute break every 30-45minutes.
